A popular program to get Canadian citizenship, the Saskatchewan PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) offers the most competitive processing times and plenty of opportunities. The program invites four categories of applicants which include the International Skilled Worker Category, Saskatchewan Experience Category, Entrepreneur Category, and the Farm category.

Similar to other skilled immigration programs, applicants who are applying through the International Skilled Worker Program must either have a valid employment offer, must be proficient or have experience in an occupation which is in demand, or must initially apply through Express Entry.

Applicants that are selected from the Express Entry pool will receive an invitation of interest, must submit documents and can then apply for permanent residence. Applicants who have an employment offer have a shorter process and a higher success ratio, although application numbers are limited each year.

Those who are on the in-demand occupation list must have work experience in one of the demanded trades and must also be financially stable to support moving and settling in Saskatchewan Canada and proficient in English and/or French. This stream is one of the very few in PNPs where a prior job offer is not required.

Who Can Apply

Candidates who have a valid job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.
Candidates who apply through Express Entry and are selected by Saskatchewan.
Candidates who are employed in an occupation on the SINP in-demand occupation list.

How Long it Takes

30 days to 3 months for International Skilled Workers to receive a nomination. 6-8 months for processing of Permanent Residence application.

How It Works

If you are applying through the International Skilled Worker Program, you must have the required number of points based on skilled work experience, language fluency, and education.

Candidates must either have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer in Saskatchewan, be employed in an occupation that is on the list of labor market requirements, or apply through the Express Entry System and receive an Invitation of Interest from the Saskatchewan PNP.

If you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, the process is much smoother and easier, except that there is a cap to the number of applications processed each year.

If your occupation is on the SINP in-demand occupation list, you must submit an Expression of Interest. Your EOI will be evaluated according to a grid in which you will receive points for factors such as your age, work experience, education level, language fluency, and financial circumstances/settlement plan. The highest scoring applicants will receive an invitation to apply, after which there will be a final submission of documents.

As mentioned above, candidates applying through the Express Entry System can also be selected by Saskatchewan according to the province’s labor needs. Such candidates will receive an Invitation of Interest.

After candidates receive an Invitation of Interest, they must prepare educational and financial documents for submission and once approved, they will receive a selection certificate. In order to apply for permanent residence, they must submit to background and medical checks and then prepare to begin a fruitful journey in a new land!
